Flowering Lawn Seed Mix

Flowery meads were a big thing from the early Middle Ages - and who could blame our Norman ancestors for liking them, with or without unicorn?  A flowering lawn looks lovely, it's great for biodiversity, and it saves on mowing. Whether you have to rely on serfs with scythes or your other half with a lawn mower, that can only be a good thing.

The wildflower species included here are selected to be suitable for gardens with neutral soils, and to flower at relatively low height. You can continue to mow your mead on the highest lawnmower setting throughout the summer and it will flower very happily if you like. Leave uncut or high cut islands in the middle of closer mown serpentine paths for a lovely effect which is half full on meadow.

The wildflower seeds in the mix are sustainably harvested from plants in the UK, so they not only have UK provenance, they also have British origin. There are more grasses than in our other mixes because - well - you're sowing a lawn. Unlike our other mixes too, sow at the slightly higher rate of 5g per square metre.

You can expect to receive your seed within five working days of placing an order.
