You can find a lot of pretty terrible "wildflower" seed packets for sale. They include species which might not naturally occur in Britain, or odd mixes of flowers, some of which aren't wildflowers at all. Others are imported from as far away as China.

If you want appropriate wildflower seed you need species occurring here naturally, and seed with UK origin.

All the wildflower seed we sell has UK origin and provenance - it's from plants originating here and harvested here.

Our community of suppliers includes most of the best wildflower seed producers in the UK. Many harvest seed in a completely sustainable way from beautiful and often ancient donor meadow sites around the UK. These mixes have very high floral content, and a high diversity of perennial native wildflower and meadow grass species. They offer exceptional value for money.

We also sell some mixes which are made up of pre-determined %s of species, designed for different soil types or situations. We randomly test these for content and good germination. The wildflower and grass species in these are native to the UK and the wildflower seed is originally from wild populations here. The grass seed is certified.

We've been making wildflower meadows since 2003 and selling seed from 2008. We're licenced to do this by DEFRA.

Why do we specialise in traditional perennial meadow mixes? We love the aesthetic of traditional wildflower meadows. They're not only one of our most beautiful and biodiverse habitats but one of our most threatened - we've  destroyed nearly all of them in the UK over the last 80 years and those remaining are largely unprotected.

Wildflower meadows are amazing habitats for thousands of species; from bees, butterflies and moths to  beetles and hoverflies, crickets and skylarks. They're all unique, developing according to location, local conditions and management.

Meadows are also resilient carbon sinks, and helpful in preventing flooding too.
